2015 Martin Custom Shop D-42 Slot Head VTS Adirondack Guatemalan Rosewood Hide Glue #1870012
This Custom Shop D-42 is really special. Normally a Slotted Headstock would accompany a 12 fret neck, but this one is a 14 fret neck! Aesthetically, it works great, The pyramid bridge into pearl into snowflake fingerbaord inlay into flowerpot decal. Nice!
It has a great Martin sound. The Hide Glue and premium tonewoods come through. The premium VTS Adirondack Top has nice fat grain, and the Guatemalan Rosewood is some of the best I've seen. The landscaping is gorgeous!
This guitar falls in the bad glue / loose binding era of Martin Guitars. The binding has been reglued at the waists on the top, treble and bass side. There is one latch that is broken off the case. There are pick marks on the guard and extended past the guard and above the soundhole (you have to get it in the light to see it), there are shirt button finish marks on the back and some hazing on the back from where the instrument touches your body during play.
