Custom Shop Build Overview

This unique Martin Custom Shop Americana Backbone 00-28 was created through a collaboration with Pop Americana to produce a series of truly one-of-a-kind instruments. The custom artwork adorning the top was created specifically for these guitars and is not available on any other instrument or medium.

The result is a visually striking Custom Shop build that blends fine art and traditional Martin craftsmanship, making each guitar in the series both a musical instrument and a collectible work of art.

Tone & Performance

Beyond its distinctive artwork, this guitar delivers the rich tonal character players expect from a premium Martin. The hand-selected Engelmann spruce top offers excellent responsiveness, producing a warm and expressive voice that reacts beautifully to a light touch while still providing strong projection when played aggressively.

The Indian rosewood back and sides contribute deep bass response, complex overtones, and excellent sustain, creating a balanced tonal profile that works equally well for fingerstyle playing and dynamic strumming.

The comfortable 00 body size provides exceptional balance and articulation while remaining easy to hold and play for extended sessions.

Custom Shop Craftsmanship

Handcrafted in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, this instrument features Martin’s traditional dovetail neck joint and solid tonewood construction for maximum resonance and long-term stability.

The guitar incorporates Golden Era scalloped bracing, allowing the soundboard to move freely and enhancing the instrument’s dynamic range and tonal clarity.

Classic Style 28 appointments such as herringbone trim, a Style 28 rosette, and diamond and square fingerboard inlays give the guitar a timeless Martin aesthetic while the custom artwork provides a distinctive modern twist.
