This Martin Custom Shop J-18 Style VTS Dreadnought is a powerful and expressive large-body acoustic designed for players who want maximum projection without sacrificing clarity.

Built with a VTS (Vintage Tone System) spruce top and mahogany back and sides, this guitar delivers a mature, broken-in tonal character with enhanced responsiveness and note separation right out of the case.

The J (Jumbo) body size expands on the traditional dreadnought design, offering increased air volume and a wider tonal footprint. The result is a bigger, fuller sound with strong low-end presence and clear, articulate highs.

Custom Shop Craftsmanship

Handcrafted in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, this instrument features Martin’s traditional dovetail neck joint and all-solid tonewood construction for maximum resonance and long-term stability.

The forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing allows the top to move freely, increasing responsiveness, sustain, and overall tonal depth.

This particular guitar was part of a pre-build Custom Shop offering selected during a factory visit, giving it a unique place within Martin’s Custom Shop lineup.
