About This Guitar
1950's Kay K8127 Poor Man's J-200
This vintage Kay is in excellent condition. It was not played for most of its life. The body is in fantastic condition.
I call this guitar The Mullet... business in the front, party in the back !!
The Kay headstock decal has been lost prior to it coming here.
It will ship in a gigbag and extra packing. This deluxe jumbo flat-top is one of the nicest Kay guitars from any period, and a surprisingly great-sounding guitar. The natural-finish top is solid X-braced spruce, the back and sides sunburst maple. Every edge is multi-bound in celluloid (including on the sides) and the fingerboard carries pearloid block inlay. The oversize headstock has a decorative inlay in a somewhat random motif and a large Kay logo. This is a great Hillbilly rhythm guitar-we call it "the poor man's J-200" and a nice example of the Chicago guitarmaker's best post-WWII best work. Overall length is 43 in. (109.2 cm.), 17 1/4 in. (43.8 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 3/4 in. (12.1 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 3/4 in. (654 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in.
